The www Is Your Oyster

It is not enough to have an MBA or a PGDM.

It is not enough that you have studied at the best.

It is not enough that you have a CGPA of over 8.5.

It is not enough that your academics have always been excellent.

It is not enough that you have been coached and taught by the best.

It is not enough that you have interviews lined up for your placement process.

No, it is just not enough… if the objective is to build a successful career.

None of it is enough. You need more.

This is where the www plays a stellar role. There is nothing, absolutely nothing, that it can’t help you with. Stop surfing, chatting, socializing and start using it for it provides best…information.

Remember that any text book, any book for that matter, has been atleast three years in the making. Whatever be the field of study, the area of interest, the latest is on the web. Information, facts and figures, latest developments in technology, anything and everything.

The news posted at sites from different countries, parts of the world will be the latest. A world view of events helps, undoubtedly, to understand the real life events in business, in understanding economic trends, in acquiring that knowledge that is so necessary, the knowledge and awareness of the here and now.

Think of industries or companies that provide jobs, especially the dream ones. How does one get into these companies? It’s the www that will tell you exactly which are the skill sets these companies are looking for, one has only to study their websites. Some of these skills may not be included in the curricula of a school or college… but you have www … which will not only help you learn but will also help you to do this online. The recent pandemic motivated and allowed a large number of people to upscale themselves, again all because of the services provided on the net. www rules!

Remember that it is not what you are but who you are, always. Soft skills, though deemed superfluous and unimportant by some, can make all the difference to an interview, changing the Alright to a Yes, that’s good! Confidence, positive attitude, empathetic communication, agility and openness of mind, all these qualities make up the “who” you are. Learn & master these, and the world is yours.

Openness of mind, the agility with which challenges are faced, adapting to changing circumstances all come with a mind that is open and willing to learn, not afraid of the unknown. Sadly, brains have been fossilized by constant learning & memorizing, and that too from approved sources. Individuals no longer think independently. Creativity has gone out of the window and we all live in little boxes, happy only with the familiar.

The need of the hour is to acquire skill sets relevant to the area of your study, work and career, skills which will help you to stand apart from the rest as the best of the best. So go on, and use those three alphabets, www.
